AIR SALE / ΠΩΛΕΙΤΑΙ ΑΕΡΑΣ

AIR SALE, public space intervention

Venue: Stoa 44 Panepistimiou, Athens, Greece

curator: Charis Kanellopoulou

This public space intervention was realised in a central shop arcade in Athens. Due to the crisis a lot of spaces are closed down, to be sold. Typically a sale sticker is put at the front door often accompanied by an additional sign that translates as ‘AIR SALE’/ ΠΩΛΕΙΤΑΙ ΑΕΡΑΣ. The metaphorical meaning suggests that the location or previous use of the place gives to the space an extra advantage, they are selling its air. This condition of air sale always intrigued me to the point that I decided to literally translate the sign, and fill the space with air balloons. – E.Phyla
